PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE IN MODERATE SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAM

Jon L. Jenmarc in collaboration with the Northeast Consortium for Staff Development and Merrimack Education Center is offering a fast tracked program designed to lead teachers of Moderate Special Needs from Initial License to Professional Status.

The Professional License in Moderate Special Needs Program consists of 138 contact hours of content-based seminars and fifty hours of mentored experience. The Moderate Special Needs Professional Licensure Program will provide graduate level instruction in reading, mathematics and Inclusion suitable for the MSN educator. These graduate credits are awarded by Salem State University. This reasonably priced program allows teachers to achieve Professional Licensure in MSN and still have the flexibility to work separately on a Master's Degree.

The Pre-Requisites to Professional Licensure in Moderate Special Needs PK-8 or 5-12 are:

An Initial License in Moderate Special Needs
Completion of a one year induction program with a mentor
Completion of a minimum of two years of employment as a teacher of Moderate Special Needs

The Professional License in Moderate Special Needs Program is made up of the following:

GNE9101 Reading Instruction (a 50 hour Reading course earning 4 graduate credits through Salem State University)
GNE9100 Advanced Mathematics Instruction (a 50 hour Mathematics course earning 4 graduate credits through Salem State University)
NE9108 Creating and Maintaining Inclusive Schools (a 38 hour course in universal school design process earning 3 graduate credits through Salem State University)
50 hours of advanced mentoring occurring during the Reading and Math class sessions

The cost of this 11 graduate credit program is $250.00 per credit for a total of $2,750.00. The cost of this program will increase to $300.00 per credit (total program: $3,300.00) in January 2012.
